A STUDY OF PIERRE BOURDIEU’S HABITUS, FIELD, AND CAPITAL PORTRAYED IN THE EMILY IN PARIS (2020) SERIES SCRIPT
Today, field have great impact on someone’s habitus and capital. This social problem was detailed in the literature approach especially in the sociology of literature. Both extrinsic and intrinsic are the principal focus of the research using the Emily in Paris (2020) as the object. The purpose of this study, therefore, is to demonstrate that the manuscript reflects the significance of habitus, arena, and capital concepts that cause clash of cultural differences between individuals ina space in darren star's article (2018). The study employs descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection techniques use identification on selected sites, then selecting the types of data to be collected, and analyzing information accordingly for research purposes. The script has a focus on the intrinsic approach of penetration, plots, and background, and then to execute it using the extrinsic approach to Pierre bourdieu's habitus, field, and capital. It is also supported by reviewing previous books, journals or studies, and secondary data are generated from other research or the Internet. The character Emily cooper represents the individual habitat of the American cultural background. However, entering the social and professional arena in Paris, there is a huge conflict of values between Emily's habitat and Emily's capital with the people in this new field. This clash occurs through social conflict, cultural conditions, and Emily's efforts to gain position and recognition in the arena.
